There was a huge cast to depict the history, nearly 400 taking part, and in spite of the large numbers of "actors and actresses " the play ran smoothly on both performances.
Many of the scenes were enacted in costume and these were "begged, borrowed or made," said Mr. Cooper.
Members of all branches of the Scout and Guide movements in the East Grinstead Local Association areas, which are comprised of Copthorne, Crawley Down, East Grinstead, Felbridge, Forest Row, Hartfield, Turners Hill and West Hoathly took part in the pageant.
The production committee assisting Mr. Cooper was Miss I. P. Wallis, Miss M. Wood, Mr. H. E. Gray, and Mr. G. A. Sorrell, with Mr. N. Anthony Old as narrator.
Other helpers included Miss J. Swan, Mrs. E. C. Cooper, and Mr. L. Jackson.
The pageant was presented as part of East Grinstead celebrations of the Jubilee of Scouting.
